Aix-en-Provence is sometimes called the city of a thousand fountains. This example was built in 1912 to sit in the Place d'Albertas. This square and its surrounding buildings were built in 1745, commissioned by the d'Albertas' an influential family in Aix at the time.

The square has been designated as an historic monument and has undergone restoration work in the early 21st century.
